BenQ Unveils DW1800 And DW1805

BenQ has updated their website to include information on their new 18x DVD writers, the DW1800 and DW1805.

At one point I thought these two drives were based on two different chipsets/platforms. I'm guessing they're both based on Lite-On's 18x DVD writer now.

Not bad... Kinda looks like they disabled WOPC though.

If it's based on a litey I wont be buying one, they still don't impress me like their CDRW's did.
The Samsung uses a mediatek chip too and I find mine merely good, not oustanding like my BenQ's have been till now. Hoping for the best...

If Philips builds a relationship with LiteON like they did with BenQ previously, then I will quite happily move my interests from BenQ to LiteON

Tried to find some info about them on the web, so far none is in english that I can find, but I could make out "Phillips chipset" on more than one site. Whether that's what they are or not remains to be seen.

Absolutely Dolph Did see it mentioned on more than one site, BUT my Thai IS horrible

1800 should not have WOPC and should use Matushita chipset. So it wasn't turend off.

1805 is rumoured to use NXP Nexperia chipset. But I don't find this logical unless it's a new chip. Because of first info suggest no WOPC support and it does support RAM.

Solidburn says little they just could have add the allgorythm.
WOPC is much more powerfull from what I have heard.

As of this morning, both drives have been removed from BenQ's website. Let the consiracy theories fly...
