Correct me if I'm wrong, on recording DVDs...

I am recording MPEG video (TV shows), I thought I had the book type at DVD-ROM, but...
In Nero I used Burning Rom, UFDISO1 speed 12x. DVDs work good on computers but not on Zenith 318 DVD player to TV, says no disk.
I thought I was using book type DVD-ROM but when I checked under Recorder/options it was set to automatic. So i guess I am getting DVDs with the book type as DVD+R.
If I change the book type to DVD-ROM will the burned disk work on any DVD player and my computer DVD player.
Is UFDISO1 right for what I am doing?

it has a much better chance of working, but then again you could just burn on dvd-r media

none of my disks have not worked on any devices... so far

So let me see if I have this right.
1.) Burn on DVD-R, instead of +. More DVD players recognize it.
2.) Burning with UFDISO1 is OK.
3.) Burning with DVD-ROM book type is OK
4.) Burning MPEG works with all of the above.


Please correct me.

burning a dvd with mpeg needs to be re-encoded, with a program like nero vision express

Well I tried the NVE, but wow was it terrible. It took almost 2.5 hrs to finish. Wouldn't play on WMP or Nero Sowtime on my computer.
I put it in my DVD player, yuk, 80% of the volume was gone. Picture looked grainy.

Anymore suggestions?

i don't know about MPEG, but if you burn a DVD+R disc it's a good idea to set it to DVD-ROM, better chances it will be playable.
Automatic - i don't know what that does, i think it should set a DVD-Video to DVD-ROM but why take the chance? set it manually to DVD-ROM.

Most DVD players won't play MPEG-2 files burned onto a DVD. For these, you will need to create an actual DVD-Video disc. As others have suggested, you can use NeroVision, Pinnacle or any number of other programs.

NVE automatically sets the volume at 30%(why?ask CraigCampbell) when you drop it in the timeline,you have to double-click on the video clip to set it at 100%.
