that's a boxed version of the DVR-111D, right ? (D = no DVD-RAM).

Bought one a while back for the same price at BB. Have not installed it yet; have to get an IDE card cause I ran out of space. Ian, how does one hack it? TIA.

Anyone got a link to a review or media scans for that Pioneer driver? I've only seen the one scan posted in the media section here :(

Edit:
Ah, nevermind...found the DVR-111D review over at Cdfreaks. I do hate Kprobe for test results (I don't trust Lite-Ons for anything! I'll take scans from BenQ only, thanks). Even so, it looks like a great drive...and only $31.99 shipped @ newegg.

Ordered! :)

Now to go grab some of those Maxell 16x discs...
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

The 111 is a nice drive and does DL better then the 1655 for me, it even does the crap Ritek DL good enough to work at 2.4x.
I put the latest buffulo 8.26L firmware on mine from the Dangerous Bros and it has auto bitsetting and does label flash now too :)
I use the 1655 for everything but DL now, the 111 makes disk that ALL my pickiest machines read as far as DL goes.

Well, I went to BB to get those Maxell discs...wasn't intending to, but I grabbed one of those Pioneer burners.

DVR-710 on the box.

Drive is a DVR-111D...

Testing time!

Edited because I'm a dumb a$$ and looked at the wrong part of Infotool.
Drive can read but not write RAM media.

It reads RAM out of the box but wont write ram till you do one of the hacked firmwares, like 8.26 :)

Well, I've already got a Samsung & LG that can write RAM. I've never used it before, though, so don't see the point.

My 18x Samsung can do 12x RAM; if I could get ahold of some 12x media, then I'd use it :)
