Lightscribe Colour background available in October

Lightscribe is going colour!! (but only coloured backgrounds) ETA October 2006.

Expect press releases soonish :D
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

Didn't Verbatium show off different colored LS disks awhile ago?

Oh well...nice to know they're finally going to ship.
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

Yeah, they had some on display at CES and if I remember right, said they were going to ship in the spring.

does this mean new media or also new hardware? will current LS drives be able to do this ?

it's only the background of the disc, it's not printing in colour. So no, you won't need new hardware.
