bought my first BD-R today

Postby dolphinius_rex on Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:23 pm

I just picked up my first Philips 2x BD-R for $19.99 CAD at futureshop. Unfortunately, it's not available online yet to link to.

The disc is REALLY nice looking, and bottom resembles a Gold DVD (kind of brownish). It has a similar look to a DVDRW, but brown.

No, I don't have a Blu Ray burner yet :P

And I thought I was obsessive about optical media...

well, thanks to the cat, when you do get a BD drive you can test how well it works with (cat-)scrathed media

If I was going to buy it, I'd probably be going straight to the wholesale supplier anyways  but I'm not shelling out that much $$$ for a BluRay drive just yet. My first BluRay drive will be the Sony PS3, and then I'll get a burner. That way I'll have something to test my burned BluRay movies on. At the moment there isn't enough testing that can be done on burned media anyways though :(

I collect media, I don't collect HDD's

And BC's tax is 14%, about to go down to 13% and then 12%. Alberta's tax is 7% about to go down to 6% and then 5%.

I guess so... I just like having really rare media. Like That's branded Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs made with Gold... Verbatim brand Kodak manufactured Gold CD-Rs from when Kodak OWNED Verbatim... a 63min CD-R from Maxell from when 63min CD-Rs was the standard (sadly burned already). Stuff like that
