CDRLabs DVD Writer Poll - June

Postby Ian on Mon Jun 05, 2006 7:28 pm

Vote for your favorate DVD writer. By doing so, you'll hopefully help those looking to buy a new drive. Once again, I tried to chose original drive designs that are currently available or will be soon.

Feel free to leave comments and an explanation as to why you voted the way you did. Also, if there's a drive you'd like to see added to the poll, let me know.

For reference, here's the top 5 drives from May's poll:
1. BenQ DW1650/1655
2. BenQ DW1640
3. Pioneer DVR-111/A11
4. NEC ND-4550A/4551A
5. Multi-way tie... too many to list

This is the last month for the BenQ DW1640, Lite-On SHW-1635S, Plextor PX-716A, LG GSA-4166B and LG GSA-4167B. After this month's poll, they're getting retired.

Once again, if there's a drive you'd like to see added to the poll, please let me know. As long as its not a rebadge or totally obscure model, I'll add it.

Voted 1655 again...even though my 1620 is a far better drive. Oh well.
I still love my 4167; its write quality to TYs is second to none.
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

Maybe could we merge the DW1640 with the DW1650/DW1655 next month?

Aww, booo! I like my LG GSA-4167B! Up until now, I have been voting for the NEC ND-3550A, but I thought I would mix it up a little bit. I recently got my hands on the GSA-4167B, and I am impressed! Take nothing away from the ND-3550A, mind you, it's still a great drive.

I voted for the DW1640, but this DW165x is about as good.

Alright! Another fan! 8)

Gonna have to do some research on the NEC 3550; my 3540 was right up there with most Lite-On DVD burners: a big POS

Great ripper, though.

Wow, I like my NEC ND-3540A. It is a great ripper, yes, but I have had no problems with it as a burner as well. What problems have you encountered, MonsterMan?

Only a few more days...

Will the DW1640 take it? Can the Pioneer 111 top the BenQ DW1655? Vote now!

Well, if the DW1640 has to come off after this month, at least it's going down with glory :D

i'm wondering why the 1640 got more votes than the 1650.
i gather that the 1650 is just as good (if not better?) than the 1640 ?

The DW1640 burns Optodisc 8x DVD-Rs better then the DW1650  And I use Acro Circle 8x DVD-Rs for my one off personal stuff, so I voted for it for that reason
