physical file order

hi fellas
to make order the mp3 files on my cds y sort them by inserting 01 02 03 in the filename before the trackname.

the deal is that those files are sorted and played in the order i want, but when changing tracks i notice that the cd reader goes from one point far from the point the previous track was. so it takes more time to play it.

i use nero 6

could it be that nero burns the files in the order they are phisically located in the hdd?

there is anyway to set the physical order on discs?

i don't know.
but try this out:
defrag your HD, make a temp folder, copy to it the files you are about to burn in the right order, burn them from the temp folder.
i kind of doubt it will make a difference.

Welcome to CDRLabs. I didn't understand your post, to be honest. Do you mean that the player skips ahead to a point you DON'T want to go? In that case, are your source files intact, and undamaged?

When we defined ISO 9660, we included the following requirement for an "originating system":

12.3.1 The implementation shall allow the data preparer to
supply the information that is to be recorded in each of the
descriptor fields listed below, and shall supply the information
for a field if the data preparer does not supply

Where the Location of Extent field in a Directory Record is one such field.

and

data preparer : A person or other entity which controls
preparation of the data to be recorded on a volume

and

implementation : A set of processes which enable an
information processing system to behave as an originating
system, or as a receiving system, or as both types of system.

So any software wishing to claim conformance to ISO 9660 as an ORIGINATING SYSTEM must allow users to specify the location of files.

Of course, allowing the ordinary user to do so would be confusing, so conforming software need not make this the default.

I've never bothered to check which of the currently popular optical recording products actually can claim conformance as an originating system. I expect tat I would be very disappointed, but not surprised, if few conformed.

tried NTI and seems that does it. i listen to my cds and when the stereo player goes to the next track the cd reader doesn't go get the file other point than next the previous was recently played.
just one thing, unclosed disk in nero takes more time to be accesed by the stereo, cause it has to check all the sessions, instead of cheking only one session when a disk is recorded that way.
whatever i set the option to record and close the disc but i get an error. maybe i have to upgrade to a newer version cause the one i cheked came with my mobo.

the problem is that when a song ends the cd laser pickup reader or whatever its name is, has to go to another position on the disc, causing a huge gap. if the files are physically burned like iso9660 sorts'em it'll take half a second the get the track.

Roxio's EMC 7 has a PLaylist that can be created BEFORE burning when making such a disk.

I am guessing that it is then intelligent enough to properly place the files, but I've neve rchecked.
