HELP Copy a family dvd

OK, I have spent a few weeks (really!) trying to copy my small dvd's from my camcorder onto a large dvd.
I have 2 drives so I figured it would be a piece of cake. Had no luck - posted many messages, contacted support for all the software companies..just chased my tail.
FINALLY, I ran across a dvd-guides.com which really explained how to copy videos onto a multisession dvd.
I did the download for dvd decrypter & dvd shrink.
I followed all the isntructions.
I copied 3 small dvds onto one large dvd.
I put it in my dvd player & it PLAYED!! WITH SOUND!! I thought I was home free....................suddenly, the sound was still playing but the movie was frozen in one spot...what has gone wrong?? I took the dvd out, cleaned it and it still does it. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM NOW?????

Then as I tried to do another round of copying 2 movies onto a large dvd, MYDVD / SONIC kept giving me some time out error message. I shut down rebooted, still getting it? WHAT has happened????????

I AM SO CLOSE.........................someone help me fine tune this process so it works completely...............

Probably it is something like the media you are using is not compatible with your burner.

So what burner did you use and what kind of media?

Well, later in the eveing I was able to copy 2 more discs onto a large disc. Don;t know what was going on earlier that it would not let me. But it worked.
As I watch this 2nd dvd on my tv, it has also frozen up but the audio continues to play...........so frustrating! As I left it alone, it un-froze and the video is back to playing.......I don;t get it.

I have recorded onto Memorex Discs DVD-R 4.7GB.
I have an internal buslink dvd burner 16X

Great link - very helpful but I am still a little confused.......

When you go shopping all you can see on the package is the country where the dvd is made & no other info.

Also you cannot shop on-line as no retailer gives any info on where the dvd is made.

I am frustrated with buying "bad" dvd's & wasting money we don't have.

How can buying a dvd be so complicated?

made progress was directed to additional websites that gave the run down on good & bad dvd's and top rated stores.
I bought some made in Japan Taiyo (sp?) dvd-r.

Hopfully that fixes the problems with the video freezing up.

Firmware is located in your writer's flash memory,it's used by the drive to properly calibrate the lasers for different media.
It sounds like a media problem,do the DVD's play fine on your PC?
I would use Nero CD-DVD Speed(DiscQuality) to check disc for errors:

ok, yes it the video freezes in the same spot when I watch it on my pc and both tv's - each have a different sony dvd player.
I have nero so I have run the cd-dvd speed thing. I have no idea what I am looking at or for . I ran the speed test, scan disc (showed no errors or damage) & disc quality test.

I guess with all this being said, I have to hope that it is just a disc problem and the new discs I oredered will burn without causing any freezing in the final disc. I have no other ideas.

When I get the new discs I will use the files I have already decrypted & reauthored and burn onto one and see what happens.


Also, how do I decide what speed to make the dvds at? How do I know which to choose? I just ordered: Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R

1. no point of running the Disc Quality test of CDSpeed. it only work on very specific drives, and that doesn't include your Toshiba DVD-ROM or Buslink.

2. Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R: those are to be burned at 8x or 4x. if 8x still gives problems, try 4x.

3. it's still not very clear what you are doing exactly, what you are doing.
in your other topic (nero HELP! Multisession disc you got an answer: if you want to put multiple DVD Videos on a dingle DVD you'll have to re-author the DVD. apparently there's no such thing as a multisession DVD-Video (i'm not 100% on this). you need to use some authoring program, it will let you import your existing DVDs and create a new DVD with your old DVDs as seperate titles.

your drive came with Nero Express, most likely it came with NeroVision Express too, NeroVision Express should be able to do these things.
