Fuji Printable DVD +/- R @ BJs

BJs is selling this in a 25-pk w/slim cases, both +/- R inkjet printable for $34.99.

I have a few questions about this media:

1. It is MIT, who is the actual mfr?

2. Are these hub-printable?

3. Does anyone have any experience w/them (good or bad)?

If I pick some up, I will be using an Epson R300 (if that makes any difference)

Can't say for sure, but other Fuji inket-printable discs have been made by Prodisc (DVD-R and DVD+R) and Ritek (DVD+R).

2. Are these hub-printable?

Doubtful. The package will probably say hub printable if they are. The Fuji inkjet-printable that I have seen were not.

3. Does anyone have any experience w/them (good or bad)?

I have not tried the Fuji inkjet printables myself. I did try TDK Print-On inkjet printables which use Ritek for the DVD+R media (this was 8x media) and it was okay. I got a 100 pack and my BenQ drive would only write some at 4x. Others were fine at 12x.

From what I have seen, inkjet printable media is more variable than regular media. It also doesn't scan as well. So if you're one of those people who likes to do quality scans on their media, be aware that the scores will most likely be lower than non-printable media.

You don't get the jewel cases, but considering that Office Max and Staples usually have them on sale buy 1, get 1 free, or for $9.99, you'd probably be getting a better deal going with the Verbatim online (twice as much media) and picking up the cases when they go on sale.

I wasn't necessarily looking at price as the determining factor in a possible purchase, just that I have always preferred using Fuji MIJ discs for a long time (both CD & DVD), and have no experience w/Fuji MIT.

I also was looking for printable hub media, as the last batch I bought @ Staples (Memorex), I ended up w/ - R hub printable & + R non hub printable, and neither package said whether they were or were not hub printable. It was kind of a crap shoot, as you also could not see the discs in the spindle due to the top disc being covered up.

I guess what I am really looking for is the best quality hub printable media on the market right now. I am kind of particular about printing on media, if I am going to scan an original disc to print on a copy, than I do not want the image messed up because the hub is not printable, while the original was. I also think that if I am going to go through the trouble of creating an image to print on a disc I burned, I don't want that created image to be "cheapened" by not being able to cover the whole disc.

Well, you'd be lucky to find any MIJ Fuji media at this point. Doubtful you'd find any Fuji MIJ that is inkjet printable.

Well, there aren't that many options for hub printable media. Personally, I would go with the Verbatim discs at RIMA.COM. I picked up some 8x DVD+R and they've been good with my BenQ drive and my Epson R320 printer. Scans show better results than the TDK DVD+R/-R printable media I have.

You can also buy Taiyo Yuden printable media from RIMA.COM. Most (if not all) of Fuji's MIJ media was made by TY, so if that's what you're looking for, just go right to the source. I opted not to get the TY media for two reasons: (1) I heard the print surface was not as good as Verbatim's or Ritek's, and (2) I heard about bonding problems with some TY media. The Verbatim media was competitively priced so I opted for that and I've been happy with it.
