Do Lite On Standalone DVD recorders record 2 channel audio??

Am looking at picking up a standalone DVD recorder to do copies from my Sony Digital 8 camera.

Am wondering if these units, i.e.(Lite-On LVW-5005X) will record 2 channel audio to a CD-R also through its audio in inputs.

I see they have Audio inputs and state they will record to CD-R's also and have a A/D converter.

Was thinking of being able to record my LP's also which of course would be analog out form the preamp or phono stage to the analog in of the DVD recorder.

If I remember right, the LVW-5005 is capable of recording 2 channel audio... except through the TV tuner. There, for whatever reason, its in mono. I think Lite-On has remedied this in newer models though.

I have been investigating this same question. The LVW-5005X has Left and Right channel inputs and outputs.

It seems like it should. The only issue may be the volume of the analog in audio signal, but if coming from a phono preamp, or standard pre outs of a preamp it should be OK.

The questions I would have would be:
1) If you are doing an LP, how does the recording "Pause" and then start again? It says you can hit STOP, but can you resume??
2) Will the standard volume signal sent by the phono gain stage or preamp be enough for the audio recording since there is no mechanism to adjust the input volume on the recorder itself.

1. The manual says there is a pause function, on page 21, under VCD/SVCD recording. Perhaps this can also be used when recording an audio CD.

2. My guess is, phono or pre-amp output level is not a problem. Audio record level is probably automatic, like it is when recording from a video source.

why not call or email Lite-On and and ask them?

As with all turntables:it needs to have line-level output,if not you need a preamp box or run through a receiver.
The reason:phono is 470ohms and ~.03v,line-level is 10Kohms and ~1v.
If you connect phono to line-in then it's possible you can damage the turntable or recorder and the volume will be very low.

I am a little fuzzy on this, but should be OK I think.
I have a dedicated phono stage that my turntable goes into, and then the phono stage goes into my preamp as a line level source.

I guess I would connect the L/R line outs of the phono stage into the L/R inputs of the Lite On.
The other option I would have is my preamp has a set of preouts that are line level that I could also use, but this may not be necessary.
