Help Me Buy A CD Reader for Use with Clone CD

Postby BillyGoat on Wed Dec 31, 1969 11:18 pm

I want to buy a new CD ROM drive to complement my new 24X Samsung Burner. I plan to use Clone CD. I live in India and I have limited choices in here. I want to be able to copy protected cds and general cds (using on the fly copying). From among the choices I have.....

Acer 52X and 56X
ASUS 50X
Creative 52X
LG 52X
Samsung 52X
Sony 52X

I want you ppl to suggest me which do I go for from among these. I specifically want to be able to do SD2 copying on the fly.

Why don't you consider a DVD-ROM instead? Toshiba and Lite-On drives skip errors quite quickly...

Search CDR-Info for more details since they are more CloneCD addicted site.

Try the Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD-ROM. My system came with one set with the 16X40X speeds by the firmware(x806) but it outdid any of the 16x48x DVD-ROM readers that I tried to replace it with (liteon, btc, and pioneer) so I just kept it. I recommended it to a friend who found it on the 'net for $39 plus shipping (about $51 total) and he raves about it. No software or cables there, but there is plenty of free stuff out there if you look.

750+ Gb external storage
