What´s the differnce? TDK DVD-R 8x, TTG02 or TTH01?

it's not that easy according to my information (which I checked with +R media ) TDK doesn't state the manufactureing country on the box any more.

I looked at my TDK DVD-R 8x 10er Cakebox. I can see the address of TDK Europe in Luxembourg, but nothing about Made in ...

BTW, the Code is TTG02.

But let me first start with answering some stuff.
It is possible that a production fault can change the code from TTH01 to TTG01 or TTG02 or TTH02 (TDK's 16x code !!) and the other way arround.
Just mispress it !!

The TTH are made in Europe, the TTG in Taiwan, is this right?

Not necessarily. There is TTH02 made in Taiwan by CMC.

Actualy at the back on the jewels boxes I bought this year in Europe:

- TTH01 (DVD-R 8x ScratchProof) you have the 3 adresses: Luxembourg, Australia & Singapore
- TTH02 (DVD-R 16x) you have only the adress of Luxembourg left
There is not anymore any indication of "Made in ..."


In the days of the 4x certified era the situation was different, for example I have 3 jewels boxes of 4x DVD-R with 3 different MID codes:
- TYG01: Made in Japan
- DVD +R 4x "RicohJPN-R01-002": Made in Taiwan
- TTG01: no indication Made in ...
So my conclusion is that on most of the 8x and 16x certified media
the indication "Made in ... " just disapeared.
On some the are printed 3 adresses and on others just one adress left (Luxembourg)



I think that we need somebody to visist
the factory at Basharage in the "Grand Duchy of Luxembourg" to see what is really manufactured there ...

I have here a 25er Cakebox of TDK DVD-R 4x with TTG01-code, and I can read "Made in Taiwan"

The first batches of 8x media of TDK did show the country in which the disc's were made.
only the first batches packageing style is very close to 4x for these disc's.
(I can still get the +R version of these at quite high costs. (The reason why this stock is still there. )

It is possible that TDK could only get there european manufacturerd media on time to some of the big customers. (It's not the first time we see brands makeing a move with a different manufactureing place because they want the media to be on time at a specific place.)

so it is only 66 cents a piece (without expedition cost)

In this shop they have 5 types of blanks from TDK that they call "top quality"
and they annouce that
they are all manufactured by TDK in their factory in Luxembourg

You mean the used TTH01-code? Or MAM´s own codes?

This time I think that you are not seeing the problem the right way

The company running the CDfolie webshop is based in Sarrebrueken (Germany) which is distant
from the TDK factory of Basharage in Luxemburg from only about 40 km.
So why should they trade with MAM and take the risk to advertise "top quality" products made by TDK in Luxemburg ?

Anyone tried this media?

On top of that if you have a close look at the photo
it is printed TDK (in white) around the "inner ring" on the samples

With some luck we might have it befor the end of the year.

MAM used MCC-Codes? I know the TY, but don´t have heard of MCC.

I was reacting still on the MAM-E TTH01 disc's.
And I do think that it was interesting to comment on these disc's because quite some people are thinking that if they buy the cheaper MAM-E disc's that they end up with the same disc's which I personally really doubt.*

* Let me explain here why so far the stampercodes of MAM's disc are not like TDK's own media made by TDK and CMC(!). So not the real stamper was used which does give me huge doubts about the origin. Even more if CMC makes comments about the fact that only production with official TDK stampers is allowed !

So Untill TDK or MAM clear it up I would say that MAM's also abuseing the TTH01 code. And that are the last words untill the compannies respond about the MAM usseing a TTH01 code on this topic.

Still there probally is one very bad thing incase of cdfollie I don't see if shipping to the netherlands is possible.

So I think this is not a good news
for the perennity of the fabulous TTH01 media code (DVD-R 8x)


They have been replaced by 1~16x certified DVD-R & DVD+R (in amaray boxes):

MID code TDK-003 ?

TDK DVD+R 16x Scratchproof with a TDK-003 code have been on the market for some time
because "bitburners" tested them around 12 September 2005:

MID code TTH02 ?

I have already bought TDK DVD-R 16x non ScratchProof: they have a TTH02 media code and a label of of a deep blue color.
But so far I have not seen any ScratchProof TDK DVD-R 16x in shops in Europe


Shoud I believe that both of these new 16x ScratchProof TDK DVD Rs (of media code TDK-003 and TTH02 ?)
are manufactured in Luxembourg


Are there going to be other Scratchproof or DURABIS* DVD's
of the brand TDK manufactured in Asia on the market somewhere ?
with the same or different MID codes ?

Yup.... you're lucky! Some others got some much less then "absolutely favulous" TDK media in the same sale. The quality seems to vary worse then B Grade Optodisc (as in, it could be great or a coaster or anything in between).
