Got the registration code within a few minutes of asking! Haven't used Opera in a long time but looking forward to trying the new version.

Follow-up: apparently Opera has changed its business model and has cut the ads and registration completely. This "one day only anniversary deal" is now permanent.

Oops- I missed this. I use firefox at home right now. I have Opera installed and used it as my primary browser for quite a while until firefox came out. There were occasional problems with some websites and (sometimes) printing pages.

I won't use IE if I can avoid it. Initially for security reasons, but now I just got too used to tabbed browsing to give that up. I don't use mouse gestures, though.

there's a wrapper for IE called Maxthon, has quite nice tabbed browsing and a nice interface.
i kind of like it but i don't bother with installing it since i use IE so little.

Sounds like a good plan. It would be a nice reference for folks trying to get away from MS products.

I'm still trying to break the habit of opening IE instead of Firefox or Opera so don't have much of an opinion on those two yet. But, I have used them enough to appreciate the browser tabs.

tabbed browsing broke that habit for me
one thing about opera is that it seems to take up more screen real estate imo
i.e: i can't change the nav icons to text? and tabbed browsing is only thru enabling the page view, whih takes up an inch of space at least

I prefer the full Mozilla suite for browsing and email. Available here in latest version 1.7.12 :http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/ Plug-ins available via links on the same page.
