It will have lots of bugs and security holes just like all the previous windows releases. So, we shall wait for 2007 or 2008 to buy it. Before then, everyone can use XP.

You can beta test it here:
www.deanliou.com/WinRG/

I think I'll wait until Vista SP2 comes out before I buy it.

It looks like they might have to change the name:

http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/21402 ... soft-vista

I'm sure MS could just buy out that company.

If Vista hasn't stood up and complained as quickly as they did... in another 1-2 years MS probably would have tried to sue THEM for stealing their name

Personally, I think it'll be called "Windows Vista Cruiser Edition".

Bloated in size, with massive resource usage, and a lot of chrome plating to cover that all up. ;).

however lame "Vista" is, it's still better than XP.
should just call it windows 2K6 and be done with it.

I guess it's out of Alpha and a Beta will be availible for some people tomorrow, I heard like 15,000 people, so it will be leaked soon!

But it has authentication protection this time... so it probably won't be as copyable (or usable if you do copy it).

If microsoft tried for more then 20min to come up with a protection scheme, they'd probably have much less piracy. I think mostly the piracy has been caused by MS showing little to no interest in protecting their software.

Of course, the other reason for such rampant piracy of their software is the fact that they charge about 30x more then what it's worth as an OS.
