Loved it. Better than 1 and 2 for sure, but Empire Strikes Back was the best IMHO. Kinda disturbing, but hey.. Vader's reputation was quite deserved, right?

EDIT: Sorry about that.. spoiler removed..

As I shouted at the top of my lungs this morning at 2:30am in the theatre as the credit's rolled:

"He didn't F** it up!!!"

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it! From the roar of approval coming from the rest of the theatre, I think I'm in the majority.

The best part was when Anakin decided to take Jar Jar as his Padewan :D . I totally didn't see that coming! :o

I loved it..

I've had a crappy week (massive identity theft), but have been building up to this by watching Ep. 1 and Ep. 2 in the last couple of days, and I really enjoyed Ep. 3. It was a lot of fun, lot of action, lots of questions answered.. it's not perfect but it was a good, fun action flick. :)

Of course, I went with the same 2 friends at the same theatre we've seen the other 2 prequels opening night, and as per our tradition, they haven't shut up about the crappy writing and kind of bad acting. (I will agree to some extent, but it's just a movie, the only part that really bugged me is the thing Vader was told at the very end to piss him off was REALLY poorly acted on all parts..)

Eh? I totally didn't see it! Did I miss something? I never left for the bathroom or anything... Also, in the trailers, I swore I saw Anakin riding some speeding motorcycle thing across the volcano planet. Didn't see that in the movie either.

I thought it was pretty good, but then again, I didn't think Ep. 1 and 2 were as bad as everyone said. I do, however, agree that Hayden Christiansen is the next Keanu Reeves (if he's that lucky) ;)

Yeah, we get the non-edited version

But no, I was just seeing if anyone would jump on that... I hope hoping I could find a photoshopped image of JarJar with a lightsaber.

FYI: Some parts have DEFFINATELY been cut out of the movie which were expected to be there. Yes, I know the scene you were referring to with the jet-bike thing on the fire planet. I also know some parts from the beginning were cut out. Probably it will all be put back in the DVD release I imagine.

I would buy that :D

No seriously, if they did that, I'd shell out $200 for it... but it'd better have some damn good packaging!

I just read this today because I saw the movie last night. Called Ian this morning and didn't really bitch. Then I read this. He's like NostraIan. My criticisms were really minor. My top criticisms which are still minor:

1. Lucas had an opportunity to make R2s jet's disappear with the oil scene. He should have taken it to explain why R2 doesn't fly in EPs4-6.

2. Anakin saying, "From my point of view the Jedi are evil." Ok, let's not try to create moral ambiguity in a character that just killed a bunch of innocents. It doesn't work. And Vader is evil. Fortunately Lucas didn't take it very far.

3. I thought the relationship between Anakin and Padme would have been more powerful had it been more subtle instead of blatantly stated in direct dialogue.

4. General Grevious...just a Darth Maul with twice the light saber. Visually impressive character again, though.

5. Padme giving up like that. Padme had been a self-less, strong character. It was out of character for her to die that way especially with children on the way. Just a weak way to close that story.

Overall I thought he told an excellent story this time and told a great deal of story. He successfully brought the story from the end of EP2 to a point where EP3 could be picked up. The turning of Anakin was much better done than I had hoped for. It was much more thorough and well thought out, Lucas had to have had help. Very very well done and probably THE MOST critical part of the story.

As far as the prophecy, I think that Anakin has brought balance to the force by the end of EP6. The force is a matter of nature, and thus doesn't automatically subscribe to the concepts of good and evil, just the natural course of things. The Jedi Council was attempting to influence things for a "good" purpose. Anakin destroys nearly all Jedi, except a couple of Sith and a couple of Jedi Council. This is still not in balance as the Sith are more powerful. However, Anakin still had one trick up his sleeve to accomplish the prophecy. He had progeny. After the remaining Jedi Council die there was Luke, who destroyed Vader, leaving a dying Anakin who destroyed Palpatine. And in the end there was Luke. An uninfluenced student of the force. Balance.
