Looks like its either a BTC 1016IM or 1116IM. BTC sent us two of the 1016IM's and they both broke. :x

Two months ago they had the same drive on sale for $39.99 (regular price at staples is $59.99) I bought one and was BTC, had it for two days with many problem, returned the drive and end up buying AOpen 1608 from OfficeMax for $39.99.

P.S. I/O Magic repackage its drive from two manufacturers BTC and NEC, if you get NEC one which probably would be 3520A then for $39.99 is a good bagain.

For $39 maybe it would be worth the risk! Maybe.

Is there a way to tell whether it's NEC or BTC?

CMC AE1 and E01, both 8x rated here. AE1 does 12 with OK quality, E01 does 8x with same quality in my BenQ's and 3500.
