I'm getting pretty sick of the forum spam, take this for example:

A spam message is posted, and then a more known user responds with just repeats in caps lock of the word 'SPAM'. That, in itself, is spam right there.

Then the thread is locked.

Why have this? The admins and mods can spot spam, and at that, why lock the thread. It's still littering the forum, just delete the thread.

i didn't delete the topics because i wanted the admins to see them so that they can ban that user.
if i could i would've done it myself and deleted the spamming posts. but i'm only a moderator.

Looks like the morons have ruined it for everyone else again. Because of the rash of spamming, we're going to turn on admin approval of new accounts again. We turned it off a while ago because people seemed to be behaving... ah well.

There's been a few additions to the Admin section due to the increase in SPAM.

I am the culprit who typed SPAM in caps, as I wished to make a point with my usual sledgehammer subtleness.

Since I made those posts, dodecahedron and I were granted Admin status, so now we can actually ban the user THEN remove the offending posts/threads.

I'm not sure who else (if anyone) was also bumped up to Admin.

I appreciate your efforts.

The recent spam had not gone without comment though. In the Mod's forum, there were comments on it a day before your thread. And Socheat had already been busy banning a few of them. As a result, ALL new accounts must be enabled by an Admin. Which also means we watch what they're posting for a while. I've enabled 5 or 6 accounts already today.

Please, bring spam (or other improper posts) to our attention. I'd rather know about it from several people, than no one at all. It only takes a second to send a PM to someone about it.
