Reading CD's on old Wiun98 computer. "How"

Postby vicsvw on Sun Feb 27, 2005 9:47 pm

I am trying to restore files to my laptop computer running Win98se.
I Instaled the nero software on the Laptop but it always comes up no disk was found. I burn a new CD or use the drag & drop and the second computer can not see the CD. I tried contacting Nero but they just send links to 20 or 30 help Links that don't help. I am using Nero 6 Ultra on an XP & Win98 without a burner. Vic.

What program are you using to create the discs?

What is the exact process?

It sounds like you are using our InCD 4 software to create the CD's. And since Windows 98 does not contain a UDF reader, you will need to either install our InCD4 reader on the system, or install InCD in order to read the discs you created.

Nero 98 computer not reading Nero XP CD's

Postby vicsvw on Tue Mar 01, 2005 12:40 am

I Use Nero 6 Ultra on my XP desktop to make the CD's . I installed Nero 6 Ultra from the same installation disk on my Laptop running Win 98se and it will not read the CD's The XP desktop has a Burner and the Laptop has only a CD reader.
Nero software is not very clear what software does what. We instaled The "Nero Suite" that contains "Nero 6 Ulta Edition" + "NeroVision Express2" + "Nero Mix" and "Nero PhotoShow Express" We also tried to install InCD4 but Nero said it was already instaled. Some progams they explaned what they did and others are still a complete mistery. Vic.

If you use Nero Express or Nero Burning ROM to create the disc, then it would be readable on any operating system, as we use the ISO9660 file format standard, which Windows 98 supports.

Which is why I indicated that you more than likely used the InCD 4 software, that and the fact you mention 'Drag-n-drop' which is associated with InCD, of course that depends on where you used the 'Drag-n-Drop' operation.

Did you do it from Windows Explorer, or from Nero Express or Nero Burning ROM?

There are how to guides on the website, and the software comes with a Manual that expalins the programs in some detail.
