I've been getting burned failed about 80% of the time.

I've been getting burned failed about 80% of the time.

I've been using Nero for about 2 months now and I have burned well over 200 movies and I haven't had any problems up until today. It appears that 80% of the movies (dvd files on hard drive) I have tried to burn have failed, and if they have burned successfully it took a lot longer than usual. If I try to burn at 4x the success rate has been higher but at 8x, forget about it. I thought it might of been the media so I bought a different name brand and the same thing occurs. My hard drive has suffcient space on it, my primary and 2ndary channels are set in dma mode. Has my burner maybe went bad or is it a problem with the software (Nero). Keep in mind, all this started happening today. Somebody please help!!

Could it be that the DVD's you burnt were copy-protected? AFAIK you can't do copy-protected DVD's using Nero...

No, that's not the issue because I use dvd shrink to decrypt the movies and the image is saved to my hard drive. My burner is used on a daily basis but it's only a few months old and I can't imagine that it has already went bad.

1.Use Nero InfoTool to make sure DMA is enabled and ASPI is working correctly.
2.Reinstall Nero.
3.Make an image file(.nrg) with Nero and burn with DVDDecrypter.
4.Replace the IDE cable.
If none of that helps then I would say your drive is borked.
