Options for a quiet DVD-ROM or DVD/CD-RW combo?

How fast is too fast?

Options for a quiet DVD-ROM or DVD/CD-RW combo?

OK, my Lite-On 166S is just annoying the (bleep) out of me - what's a nice, quiet DVD drive? A combo would be nice, but only with good burn quality.

I've heard Samsung's combo drives are quiet...but from what I've seen the write quality is poor. Still, it's what I'm currently considering...

did you try limiting the drive's speed (so as to keep it quiet) using Nero DriveSpeed ?

LG drives are quite quiet too, but as dodeca says, use DriveSpeed to reduce the read speed.
