Check your DVD-RW writer's DMA position, there is possible chance that during the installation of Nero your writer has flipped out of DMA position and is now in PIO or mute-word position, if that so go to "Device Manager\IDE Controller" and try to uninstall the IDE controller that your writer is connected to it and reboot your computer then check to see if your writer has been positioned in DMA.
