what is the best way to burn a music cd getting the best quality from it? I saw in WMP, that there is a slider bar, something like less disk space to the left and best quality all the way to the right. I have been using Nero for some time now and have burned a few music cd's, but never really checked into the "best" way to get the "best" quality recording. Any help most appreciated.

Use 44100 Hz, 16 bit .wav files as a source and burn as CD Audio. Do not use compression (mp3, wma, etc.)

Or you could use FLACs or .shn files as well. Lossless =

Ok, maybe this is the dumb question, but if I am copying from an original disc, how do I get this wav format? Do I tell it to save in that format first, then burn to disc or ?? Thanks...

i use ripping software called audio grabber ( http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ )

that rips the music in .wav format, you can keep it that way or encode into any popular audio codec

i usually just rip to lame codec using 192 bitrate, stereo, high quality

my music always playsback in very high quality, using sennheiser $200 headphones

Can Nero do that? I mean save to wav format using the 192 bitrate?

no, wav format doesn't operate in bitrates

its all in killahertz or whatever

if I want to do the 16bit wav format, can nero do that? if so, where do I tell it to use that format. thanks.

16-bit, 44.1 kHz PCM (what you are referring to as WAV) is the native format for CD-Audio (CD-A) discs and thus the default when you make a CD-A disc. In Nero, just select "Audio CD" as your project (as opposed to MP3 Disc, WMA Disc or Nero Digital Audio Disc) and it will automatically rip from your audio CDs as 16-bit PCM and record in the same format. Of course, this format has absolutely no compression at all, so you will only be able to store a maximum of 70 minutes of music on one 70-minute CD-R disc.

Thanks for that explanation. Now if I want to try to enhance the sound (if possible) beyond the basic format, is that where filters come in to play? Thanks again.
