okay, after being repeatedly asked to post this story, I have decided to share my most recent FedEx experience with everyone. I'm sure it will hit a little closer to home with people here, then it would on many other forums.
17 boxes, each box containing 300pcs of Taiyo Yuden's 8x DVD+Rs (Shiny silver) were shipped out on September 27th 2004, from Chanhassen MN. They were shipped via FedEx Ground.
The boxes were received on October 6th, a little later then I would have expected... but that not the problem.
At first, it looked like the boxes had been beaten up pretty badly, but that was all. A couple big holes, a bunch of large dents, and generally rather large amounts of scuffing all over the boxes.
As the boxes were unloaded out of the FedEx truck, they were inspected, and put into piles. The person who was receiving the boxes for me noticed that one of the boxes (*ONLY* one box) had masking tape placed over top of the FedEx label that is added at the point of pickup when FedEx gets the packages from the person shipping them. Upon opening the box, it was quickly noticed that the box was missing one spindle of DVD+Rs.
My best guess is that someone in FedEx decided he wanted some Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+Rs for himself, and relieved us of a spindle. That's the only way we could explain the masking tape being placed on top of the FedEx label. The people who shipped them to me of course swear that the boxes were shipped complete.
FedEx wanted me to reject the whole shipment, just because of that box... I couldn't do that, as the DVDRs were needed immediatly. I hope that FedEx is never used to ship products to me ever again...
I suppose it could be argued that FedEx employees at least have good taste in blank media though...
