Prodisc 8x DVD-Rs now Pioneer Certified

Geez, what was Pioneer smoking? I could understand maybe Prodisc 8x DVD+Rs being certified, but their 8x DVD-Rs? And which code/formulation was certified?

This is starting to make me wonder if the rumour about Pioneer selling these certifications isn't a little more true then I gave it credit for initially.

You forget something +R Philips approval has higher standard rules as -R standards.
So that Prodisc 8x DVD+R would get full approval (Not the provisional approval. Which says something like this product has batches that could work on some burners and with even some parameters inside the standard.)
is a really big step.

Also if Optodisc can get Pioneer approval so can Prodisc. (Note Optodisc 8x DVD+R isn't approved by Philips even not provisional approved.)

In general Prodisc seems to have a bit better support as Optodisc and is more playable.Also less really bad stuff falls trough.(visible defects )
However when it comes to longlivety it seems that prodisc still has some work to do. Optodisc scores a better on this.
Still both have there issues and that's why non of them get a recommendation from me.

The best Optodisc is always under Acro Circle brand (well, not true, the *BEST* is sold by MAM-E, but other then that it's Acro Circle )

Optodisc only has Pioneer certification on their 4x DVD-RWs as far as I know. As far as their quality goes, I think their 8x DVD+Rs are probably a little better supported then their 8x DVD-Rs.

As for longevity, yes, Optodisc is quite good for that on most occasions and in general I'm quite impressed.

Well, we don't know what code Prodisc had certified... I'm still trying to actually get ahold of this supposed document of certification too

It's possible that Prodisc has *SOME* media that is certified... but that doesn't mean that is what they are selling. They are being quite vague on the details, and given how many codes we *KNOW* Prodisc makes, it wouldn't surprise me if there were one or two more that aren't known of by the general burning public.

FUJI and MCC A-grade both should be of high enough quality to get Pioneer certified.
The own codes of prodisc can be anything.

Also I really laughed when they said DVD+R 16x certified by Pioneer.
(Why not go to Philips/SONY/RICOH which are really the +R compannies . Oops ohyeah because Philips has put some higher standards up for that one.
And I don't think Ricoh and SONY are cetifiying yet. Still the standards are the same.

Also for Dual Layer DVD+R what were Philips and Mitsubishi thinking the stuff has higher standards as normal dual layer dvd-rom !! So I think the crappy hongkong/Taiwan compannies will be happy if -R launches with again nicer standards. I can still see -R becomming big if Philips and Mitsubishi really hold to there standards and -R just again goes easy.

Is there any Prodisc media that is as good as the ProdiscS03 4x dvd-r media was? That media was awesome.

Also, wasn't the PRODISC.R02 4x dvd+r media good? I heard it was.

I'm confused why no one replied to my question. Has no one used any Prodisc dvds after the Prodisc S03s?

How is the 8x Prodisc 8x dvd-r and dvd+r? Are there diferent media ids and are any of them any good? Is there a media id that I should avoid?

If I bought Prodisc 4x dvd-r media today, what media id would it have? I loved the ProdiscS03, but I'm not sure if the 4x dvd-r, that is sold today, is still that media id.

I have seen ProdiscF01 media id code. It's Prodisc 8x dvd-r. Is it any good?

Does anyone know what the difference between ProdiscS04 and ProdiscF01 when they are both 8x dvd-r media? Which one is better?

After using ProdiscS03, I became of fan of Prodisc. So, I'm kind of interested about them.

Since I'm an avid Prodisc non-fan, I can't really answer your question... but I *CAN* tell you that when a distributor of Prodisc media order 8x DVD-Rs from Prodisc, PRODISCS04, PRODISCF01, and FUJIFILM03, are all potential discs that could arrive in that shipment. If you are really unlucky, you might get all three types in a single shipment.

It makes me happy that I haven't been a Prodisc distributor in over 3 years now

It´s not so easy to find out, Made in Taiwan could be Ritek, Prodisc and CMC. Hm, i should look at my Platinum -R 8x (G05) and Philis -R 8x (Fujifilm03), maybe the serial-numbers say something about the manufacturer.

Ritek is not produceing for prodisc but for FUJI or other big oem's with this code.

Your Philips Fujifilm03 are likely to be Ritek or MBIL manufacturerd.

There is some confusion if CMC has access to the FUJIFILM03 code. Can anyone proof it wrong or right. ?

Ritek makes these disc's for some big oem's usseing FUJI dye and MID code. . We are talking Philips, FUJI, MEMOREX.
Philips also has FUJIFILM03 made by MBIL and is supposed to have made by CMC according to some sources but newer info I have make me have some doubts about these. So that's why I ask can someone proof these.

Imation and Intenso FUJFILM03 are mostly made by MBIL.
