people with the nec 3500 , what discs do u use

i was using some from walmart, but i went back after i ran out and got the same package and they will only burn at 2x instead of 6x,
im needing some kind of dvd-r media that will burn at least 6x if not more and I need a 100 pack of them



i got told that the reason the 2nd set of discs were slower becasue name brand people sometiems buy others namebrand and put their labels on them

it was memorex is what the name brand was

help cuase i need to get me some more dvd-r asap

i have heard good stuff about the 4x and 8 x ritek dvd -r's ???

Why use Ritek when you can use Taiyo Yuden? Especially since those discs I posted can burn at 16x on your burner.

$4 cheaper than the +Rs, though they will probably only burn up to 12x.

Actually, it's six time better. Just divided 12 by 2 on my Excel.

i just got my burner 3 weeks ago
do i need to check to see if there is an update firmare or whatever
if so , how do i do that

i didnt get a disc with my burner, my package came only with the burner

Acro Circle brand Optodisc 4x DVD-Rs burn VERY well on it... the same for Acro Circle brand Optodisc 8x DVD+Rs, but not yet Acro Circle brand 8x DVD-Rs.
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

I burn at 16x with TY/FUGI +R and 8X with riteck03(Memorex) +R. Stick with TY brands folks and FW 2.18. It is worth the extra few $$. I use to be a -R freak but have slipped over to the dark side :lol: . My +R fugi/ty play in every player I put them in(Sony,RCA,Samsung,Daewoo,Sony play station =D> ).

i guess i will go with the dvd+r soon

but as of RIGHT NOW < im really needing some good recomendations of -r discs that will burn at least 8 x fast and no slower

can someone point me in this direction ,, i have one link to -rs , but is there any more

also , how do i tell if i have the newest firmware for it

i guess i have it since i just got the burner

u say the +r burns ina ll players

mine only says -rs
but i have heard that it does not mean it wont play +rs

i would love to burn at 16 x that would be awesome

do you have al link to where i can get these dics you are talking about the

Download the free Nero Infotool to find your current firmware. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ The latest official is 2.18.

This a link contains all the available firmwares http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/. It sounds like you should stick with official firmwares for now. The instructions for loading it are located in a readme file within the zip file. It's easy to do.

I burn the 8X DVD-R Fuji branded Tayo Yuden (Look for "Made in Japan"). Best Buy had a 50 stack for $20 a few weeks ago, or you can buy them at supermediastore.com, meritline.com, or rima.com for $0.65 - 0.75 each. As stated earlier in the thread, these burn at 12X in the NEC 3500 which is about 6'20".

6-20 is excellent ty-R speeds. Check Best Buy, buy.com, and Staples for their sales.
