invisible drives

i have a dvd-r plextor 708a and a cd drive .. i was installing and unistalling some dvd-r programes and suddenly when restarting the computer my cd drives only became invisible .. the drivers are installed but there is a yellow exlamation mark on it .. disabling and re-enabling didnt work .. unistalling and installing too .. add new hardware didn't work either .. its serious .. the operating system is xp profetional .. hm i have win 98 too installed these both drives show normally .. please help .. thanks

i checked the site .. edited my registry .. now my cd drives show normally .. but in "device manager" they r put into an "unknown" category .. but the name of the drivers are correct .. but they r not working corectly like they should.. they just read files .. easy cd creator cant detect it as a dvd-r .. etc
i tried unistall install .. restart .. etc nothing
