Well, I can confirm the new firmware DOES NOT automatically set the booktype to DVD-ROM for DVD+R. Maybe DVD+R DL, but I sure as hell won't test it

Why not? Can't you handle a simple CLI tool reading the current setting, or even DVDDecrypter?

Well when I upgraded from A104 to A111, DVD-ROM was already set for me as well.

D'oh, you're right. I kinda forgot I could do that without testing the actual media. According to DVD Decrypter, both DVD+R and DVD+R DL are not bitset to DVD-ROM automatically. I have to do it every time I boot up.
