Computer reboots when burning

I use the latest version of Nero to burn CDs.

Last week my computer started rebooting about halfway through a burn (using a Liteon LTR-52246S). This only happened twice on about ten burns so I really didn't worry about it too much.

Yesterday I bought a Liteon SOHW-812s to replace my CDRW (not related to my burning problems). I lost two DVDs as my computer still rebooted when burning. Not wanting to waste any more CDs/DVDs, I burned as a simulation...computer still restarted during simulations.

I thought this may be a Windows problem so I rolled back a "fresh" Ghost image. Same thing. I put both of my hard drives on the primary IDE channel and placed my burner on the secondary (alone). Still rebooting.

This is what shows during the blue screen:

I'm running Win2k SP4 on an Abit KT7e, 900mhz and 512MB, latest VIA 4in1 drivers.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I was thinking that since this happened with two different burners and a fresh Windows installation this may be a hardware issue. Please help.

are you using the VIA IDE Filter driver?
maybe you shouldn't, run the 4in1 and uninstall the IDE Filter driver (=> use the MS drivers).

do you do anything with your computer (hardware/software/driver change) around the same time the problems started?

I uninstalled the VIA IDE driver. Still getting reboots/blue screens. Nothing in my software/hardware has been changed. My computer is very stable except when I burn CDs.

I just got the same error but the second set of numbers changed:

As I suspected, this was a hardware issue. I pulled out all of my cards one by one and found that it was my Creative Live! SB responsible for my problems. Left the card out and now everything is well.

what a curse.

i have one...now that i have a new motherboard with decent sound, i'm not putting it in my computer.
it will probably never go into any computer i will build. might as well throw it away

I have had a very good experience with Creative sound cards.IMO,the problem with those sound cards arise when proper drivers are not installed.
