According to what I have read online, an approximate release date is August 12th or 13th but we will see if that actually happens or not [-o<

If that happens, I would almost certainly have one of those drives sent up to me from one of my US friends... that's one of those "gotta have" drives! :D

I would assume that almost every manufacturer will have some form of an NEC 16X DVD writer out by the end of the year.

Some will have better features even during this fall though not by much.

I have contacted Newegg to ask them about the 3500 and here is their reply.

I do not believe that we will have the NEC 3500A by 08-17-2004.
