I know most people bought it because it was made in Japan. If you want made in Japan media, you will have to start looking at the label to make sure that's what your getting.
One guy bought a 50 pack and it was RitekG04. That is very sad news.
dolphinius_rex wrote:They wouldn't do that I don't think... DVD-RAM is a huge business for Maxell, and they take quite a lot of pride in being one of the (if not THE) biggest manufacturers of it.
hydrogen wrote:Well, it looks like Maxell switched. Just great.
hydrogen wrote:They expect people to pay the same price for Ritek G04 media compared to Ty or Maxell made media. What are they thinking?
Shredder wrote:*Money* What else is there to think? I believe Fuji, Maxell, Sony and other Japanese companies still sell mostly their home country made media in Japan, while they sell mostly Taiwan made media in other parts of world. Specially in North America because of many people liking cheaper media.
dolphinius_rex wrote:dammit.... fifteen thousand Maxell 4x DVD-Rs in 50pc spindles.... *all* made in Taiwan
even *AFTER* Maxell assured me that they would be made in their plant in Japan... for the price I paid, I could have had twice as many Ritek 4x DVD-Rs, with a freaking custom silkscreen!! This will NOT end here!

hydrogen wrote:I hope you can return them. If you could, would you please ask Maxell to switch back to made in Japan media? Is there anything we can do to change their minds? I emailed them, but got the typical response. So, my email didn't help.
dolphinius_rex wrote:to those interested, Maxell did offer to take the DVDRs back if it is requested on my part... for myself, if depends on several factors whether I will request this or not.
