Installation error: cannot create nerocom.dll

Postby Pilgrim on Thu Jul 22, 2004 10:48 am

Someone on another Forum has posted a question concerning an upgrade problem he is having with Nero. Unfortunately, at this point in time, he hasn't provided any information in regard to his O/S or even what version of Nero he is trying to install..... duh! Hopefully he will eventually do so. But in the meantime, he says when he tries to install Nero, he gets an error that says it "cannot create nerocom.dll".

The recommendations given him so far have been to redownload the upgrade file and use the Nero cleantool and try reinstalling the program. But he still gets that error.

Any suggestions of what might be causing this?

Are you installing from the nero CD or is it the downloaded trial version. I had trouble with the CD, so I installed the trial version and unlocked it with the key that came with the CD.

Again, this issue was reported by another individual and has nothing to do with me personally. I'm just trying to find a solution for him. Unfortunately, he hasn't provided much information, which I just asked him to provide again. From what I can surmise, this is the downloaded version, which he calls "the latest version". Image He also mentioned that he gets the error during "the extraction process".

Should he provide the specific information I asked for, e.g., previous version already installed, version he is trying to install, trial/purchased, etc. I'll return with that additional information. That's what I get for trying to help, eh? Image

if in fact this is the downloadable version, then there is something different going on with his computer, have him try to extract the download file with like winrar before he installs

what i do is install from the extracted files from winrar anyways

Well, this is all that he volunteered:

- Download version
- Nero 6
- No CD, thus originally it was installed with a download version which worked fine, according to him until he tried to install the upgrade.

Sounds like the guy is not downloading the file to his hard drive first.

I see this occur quite often, where they select the OPEN option instead of the SAVE option. With small files this is OK, but with large files such as Nero, you need to save it to your Hard Drive first, and then install.
