Need An Educated Answer

I am about to buy a DVD Burner for my comp and I need to know

this information so I don't waste my money buying something I

can't use.......

The system requirements for the burner said that my comp

requires 800MHz Pentium III or faster,

128MB RAM, 20GB hard disk, 24-bit colour graphics display (1024

x 768 resolution) Windows XP is recommended. Now my

computer consist of Windows XP (Pentium 3) (650 MHZ)(256mb of Ram)

(32 bit color) (graphic display of 1024 x 768 resolution)

with 50GB left. It is a healthy comp no viruses.... If the

requirements says 800 MHZ does it mean that I cannot use the

hardware at all because of what my computer lacks in MHZ, or

does it just mean that I would be able to use it just not at its

best potential speed?????[/i]

Your PC is fast enough for 8x DVD writer. In some cases, i.e. burning on-the-fly (from DVD reader to DVD recorder instantly), you could experience slow downs, but that's not recommended anyway.

Make sure the new drive has some form of buffer underrun protection, which I believe virutally all DVD writers these days have.

All dvd burners have some type of buffer underrun protection. The cute names have gone into the background as they all work the same now.
