Any Suggestions on Computer Case

I'm looking to get a new case. I currently have a Thermaltake Xaser III, but the fan control takes up one of the 5.25 slots and I need the slot. So, if anyone has any suggestions on a good replacement case, I would appreciate the help. I looked at the Aspire X-SuperAlien ATXA6SW w/500 power supply, what do you guys think?

How much do you want to spend? Personally, I'm not a big fan of how the X-SuperAlien looks.

I'd say about 150.00 dollars. When I bought the ThermalTake case it went for about 180.00. The problem is that I bought my system from Nutrend and recently send it back for replacement of the fan control. When I got it back the case was damaged. They picked it up to replace my case and when I got it back the case was damaged again and things were loose inside the case. Now, Nutrend merged with ABS Computers and they don't have much of a selection and said that they would credit me for the case. So, if can you suggest a case for around 150.00 or so that be great. TIA

Question: If I were to get another Thermaltake, how easy is it to remove the fan control and connect the fans directly?

You won't find a sweeter case then the Cooler Master Wave Master, can be had off newegg for around $150, bout to pick one up myself in a few weeks. Great looking case

Do you want to mod the case yourself, or are you looking for out-of-the-box looks?

My vote goes to the hard-to-find LiteOn FS-020, which can still be found at Outside Loop Computers (http://www.outsideloop.com). It takes 1 front and 2 rear 120mm fans, for high airflow with low noise. Also has plenty of space for storage. It's not the lightest being steel rather than aluminum, and it's rather plain if you don't do any modding to it, but it's a great project case and a good choice for overclocking. It's about $100-120 without the PS.

Reminds me of the ultra-awesome Everex Step-Cube from the 486 days. Had a non-working one lying around for a long time, I'm really ticked I didn't dremel it out for ATX usage and turn it into something cool. Had really nice slide-out drive racks, and totally separated the system board from all the drives.

never saw the point of that case, it's huge, probably wouldn't fit decently any any desk without some modding. It's cool for it's different factor. But it's a cube, I mean nothing really advanced about that. If somebody was gonna give me any case I'd want, I'd still go with a Wavemaster, but that cube is pretty interesting.

Well, just got through replacing all components from my Thermaltake XaserIII full tower to my thermaltake XaserV Damier V6000A. I must say that since I'm new to all this, I was happy to see that when power was turned on it WORKED! The biggest problem I had was with the fan control...too many wires, but I got through it and it works fine.

One thing, the USB connectors on the top of the case are not working. I called Thermaltake and they are going to send new connector wires. I checked the motherboard connections and all are connected. The tech said that it could be faulty wires. So, I'm going to try that first and hopely it will work. If not they will replace the connector sockets.

Other than that, the case looks great. And eventhough it has two less fans it keeps cooler temps. The XaserIII had seven but all were 80mm fans and the speed was constant around 2000rpm. The new one has five fans with three being 90mm and two of the three can be controlled by two large knobs in front of case door from as low as 1500 to 3500rpms. The fan control has an LCD with blue light and it gives you the fan rpms and the temps of the three temp probes.

All in all, I'm happy with the case and happy that I put it together and it did not BLOW-UP! HaHa

Only problem with the Xaser V is that it was stupid of them to put one of the LED fans in the back, where you can't see it. One of my side fans was DOA, so I quickly had one ordered from newegg, wasn't about to wait for slow Thermaltake RMA service. Also, by getting one from newegg, I was able to get another LED fan, making my total 3.

wiz, just spoke to Thermaltake and the new wires will be here by tuesday, at least that's what they said. That's not too bad.
