Good DVD Copy/Burn Program and Security Issues?

I have been using 321 Studios' DVD X Copy programs (mainly Express since its inception) since they hit the market, and overall have been more than satisified with the results. However, as most people know, a Federal judge ruled against the company a few months ago, and now they are not permitted to sell the program that bypasses any copy protection. For the most part I've been satisfied with the program's ability to make backup copies of my DVD movies, but I would like to try other programs now. Any recommendations? Someone recommended DVD Shrink in tandem with Nero, so I'd like to know if that combination is worthwhile.

Also, I would like a program that doesn't try to collect user data and "phone home". Some programs I've used did just that (or tried to, which I verified by running a sniffer while running the program.) If you're not running a solid defense-in-depth configuration, there's no telling what data might be collected from your system without your knowledge. Just looking for a working program that doesn't produce a high rate of coasters, as well as mines data.

well dvdshrink and nero is excellent combo, way better then dvdxcopy

i snicker inside just a little bit whenever a customer tells me thats what they use

or you can try dvdFab or nero visio express with dvd region free

I have used or tried every one of the DVD programs I have ever found. Until recently, I was quite happy with DVD Decryptor + DVD2ONE (like DVD Shrink, but has a "join" feature to merge separate titles) + Nero to burn.

Then I switched to Slysoft's AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 + Nero to burn.

This CloneDVD2 now allows you to choose the DVD Navigation menu or not, preview video elements and chapters to see if you want to exclude them (ie. Previews, Promo/Ad clips), select sound streams, and then gives you a nice green-yellow-red slider bar of how the quality will result with your choices.

There has still been an occasional movie on two sides/two dvd's (i.e. Sleepers) that needs the "Joining" feature that DVD2ONE has, so you need to be flexible.

Okay, guys, I know I'm a newbie to this forum, so snicker away. Perhaps I can assist you with any security issues you have. Anyway, regarding Nero Visio Express (w/ DVD region free), what are the benefits of using that program vs. DVD X Copy? Or for that matter, DVDFab? Thanks for the thumbs up on the DVD Shrink and Nero combo, but which would you recommend? I'm interested in applications that will allow me to backup my DVD movies.

whats nice about nero vision express and dvd region free combo

it lets you burn on the fly, it encodes and burns all at the same time

so roughly 13 minutes full dvd, rip, encode and burn (4x) 9 minutes roughly for 8x

I don't like to burn on the fly. Too many times I am glad I took a look at the converted files before burning, and ripped it again. Sometimes you need the subtitles for a foreign film. Other times you might want the menu or not. That's why I now prefer using CloneDVD2.

Yeah this version is similar to shrink, but there are other features. But I can't argue with the price of shrink.
