So i am done paying with my car! I am debt free. under a year later. But now I don't have enough money to pay off my credit card! good grief. I have $211 to pay on my credit card!!
Luckly i have exactly $211.50 comming in from clients (i hope to have this money before wednesday) and my credit card bill isn't due until the first of July. so what does this mean? I need to get to work!!
According to my billing system it seems i need about $900 to make it a month. that ammount is w/o cost of one date or meal outside of what is in the frig.

IS THIS WHAT LIFE IS LIKE??? ONE HOLE TO THE NEXT!!!?!?!?!

Yup, we've all got it pretty tough, that's for sure!

Geeks always have it hardest in the world, since we get less respect then most people, and have to spend more money on our expensive hobbies then those who prefer less tech-related items But I wouldn't have it any other way! Because 10 years from now, I'm still going to be able to program the time onto whatever electronic devices I own in my household, my videos are going to be crisper, my audio is going to be clearer, and whole house is going to be nifty-er.

As Ian said, wait till you buy a house (or condo).
If something needs to be upgraded (new fence, new bay window extension, new bathroom [very expensive if you do it from scratch and want something nice] or something requires repair (water heater, A/C system, furnace, W/W carpeting etc.) you can expect to pay a lot of money in some cases! Not to mention closing costs, insurance, taxes and routine maintenance.
$211 will seem like peanuts, unfortunately...

Have you looked at the taxes that come out of your check lately? It makes me sick every single week. My weekly taxes are about $1200

I try not to.
Once you take out income taxes, 401K contribution deduction and stock purchase plan contribution deduction (along with all the other deductions such as healthcare etc.), my net pay is about 50% of my gross pay.

Of course the 401K plan and stock purchase plan are well worth it, so I am not complaining...

In my opinion, that was poor money management. When I first started college, I had a couple different debts (rent, bills, credit cards) and a decent student job. Come pay day, after paying rent and bills, I had a small chunk left over to pay my credit cards. Not enough to completely pay them off, but I could take sizeable chunks out of them. Being raised to abhor debt, I dumped almost all of that remaining money in to my credit cards. Unfortunately, that left me with very little in my checking account. So, when things came up (dates, car repairs, food, etc) I put it on my credit card. And the cycle began. Hopefully, you can make more than $900 on top of that $211 you owe, otherwise you'll be left with $0.50 this month.

You'll be fine. If all you have to worry about is girls and making $900/mo working a tech job (where people are paying you to program their VCR's) to survive, consider yourself lucky.

Why should we here and now offer financial advice to you? The financial advice has all been previously posted by Spaz, myself and others. If you are truly interested, search for it. For me to offer it again in this post would be insanity. Recall my previously offer of the defintion of insanity: Doing something over and over again expecting different results.

However, I will respond to the comment about home ownership: Yes, initially they are a money pit with all the improvements that a new owner wants to make. However, in the long run, they are your most certain brick on the road to financial independence. For example, I purchased my house in the medium low 5 figures 35 years ago. It is now in the medium high 6 figures.

I must agree.
I just sold my condo for a tremendous profit (bought 10 years ago).
Hopefully the house I just bought will also be a great investment.
If not I won't cry since I wanted more freedom (ability to play music or DVDs loud etc.). I also can't wait to use the hot tub
If only my relationship with my gf wasn't on the rocks...

i really have no room to complain. I have a pretty good income, and am not in any major debt. i have never been late on my CC payment before. nor do i expect i would be this time. i might even make that $200 today to cover my bill. if not i am already booked to make it on monday.

I have known a few people who have like 6k of Credit Card debt at age 22. And i don't understand why they get into CC debt.

Your right to be concerned about credit card debt. I have employees in their thirties who get paid on Thursday and ask for an advance on Monday! Most of their money goes towards interest. On top of that they can't even participate in the retirement fund which matches their contribution dollar for dollar. It's sad because these are good hard working people but have never learned the value of staying within their budget.
