mp3 organization software

Postby kjcred1 on Tue May 04, 2004 1:37 am

Hi all! I have an outragously huge collection of unsorted mp3s that is really starting to bug me. Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to create directories in windows explorer based upon id3 tag information?

Baisically I would give the program the current path of my mp3s and it would create a folder in windows explorer (using id3 tag information) for each artist name given, thus putting all of my mp3s in their respective artists' folder. Understand that I dont need a playlist organizer. This program will actually be moving my files around on my hardrive.

I understand that this forum is geared more tward the creation of cds and dvds, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask. If someone knows of a forum that is mp3 orianted, that information would be apreciated as well.

Thanks

No help here. I looked for a similar app and never discovered any.

I had to spend hours sorting to 'clean things up.'

After clean up, I made several backups as I am sure you will.

try this link

http://mac.sourceforge.net/

The program is called MAC (mpeg audio collection) it is freeware at least when I last downloaded version 2.9
It is an excellent program for sorting out a bunch of mp3 files.
Either you can place a cd in your drive and it will read these and create you an alphabetically sorted playlist which you can put into text or an excel type list. Or you can steer it to a folder on your hard drive and it will do this too. It can also rename files on your hard drive to the names contained in the ID3 tag. It does this in bulk and instantly You have the option to preview and immediately undo the rename if you don't like the look of it . You can sort things by artist title and search for tunes by artist title or just a string of text from the tune or title.
I hope it covers what you need .
I rate the program as brilliant .

The GodFather should be able to do it:
"Restructure the files on your hard disk ( copy, move or even create shortcuts ) in new user defined location based on Tag field information."
