I have a Toshiba Tecra 8200 with a Toshiba SD-C2402 DVD ROM drive. The original DVD ROM worked perfectly until the slide tray broke. I bought 2 second hand drives and both are recognised by DOS and XP only after I unplug/plug them.
I have flashed the bios for the Tecra to the latest. I have flashed the
bios for the drives to the same version (1009 & 1015), just in case.
Has anyone any idea why I need to unplug/plug the drive to get it recognised?
