Yeah, got the Pioneer DVR-107. You sure haven't been reading the DVD forums, I swear I told you over IM once too...

WHOA! just checked their website, and 12x burning! I thought that Phillips were making 16x though by then! Hmm.... anyone know if this can overclock any media, like the 708A?

Too bad RW are still 4x, but i dont use that format that often anyways though... wait a sec, i do! yah, that is too bad. o well, 12x burning is still pretty sweet.

also, i guess 708a users wont get 8x dvd-r.

if this drive can overclock media, than i am definitely interested (well im already interested, but ill be even more interested)

I would assume it's some kind of optical SATA adapter that's tweaked for optical drives.

SATA on an optical drive is 99% hype. Put a 10 gallon per minute fuel pump and an 800 cubic foot per minute Holley double pumper on a Vanagon and how much faster do you think it will go?

Put 120mph rated tires on a Yugo and do you think it will go 120?

Actually SATA will help especially on Intel chipsets where it's integrated, and you are doing multitasking.

Not to mention getting rid of legacy cabling.

I usally am downloading something or doing multiple things when I burn DVd's and such, so going to SATA will help users like myself

Well, the 107 is faster when it comes to DVD-R which I appear to burn more often now, but I'm pissed that I can only burn DVD+R at 8x on 4x media. PX-708A is still the second best drive around, the only reason why the 107 is worth a dime is because of the hacked firmware, without that, it would be useless.
