Lite-On LTC48161H & 811S -Nero/MyDVD

Can't see this, so I'll ask: Have a Lite-On LTC48161H=DVD reader 16x/CD-W combo + Nero 5.5.10.30 -Both work well.

Just bought the 811S and only came with MyDVD/PowerDVD, is it possible to run the Nero from the other Lite-On or is it hard coded for just that one drive?

If your using the Nero that came with the Liteon LTR48161H, then you will not be able to use it with the 811s as this will only work with the burner that the software came with. You will have to get Nero6(either from Ahead for $49 or from retail store) since Ahead does not sell serial numbers for version 5.5 anymore.

Got Nero 5.5.10.54 for $39, which loaded without a problem; loaded the region setting for USA. Attempted to use DVD decrypter and -Windows 2000 does not have a DVD decoder message; after checking MS site and only finding a reference for WINXP, I decided to try MyDVD that came with the Lite-ON.

Now the fun starts: MYDVD is an ASPI based 'Hook' program, that does NOT have an uninstall option, that was what I looked for after it BSOD on me. Ok, I go into safe mode and try to uninstall via windows -No result, basically this progo caused a Kernal crash on WIN2K Pro. Looks like, feels like a mydoom kernal killer.

Nero 5.5.10.54 should work fine with the 811s if you're using a version of Nero you bought.

MyDVD...Kernal killed Win2k Pro! Nothing to do with my bought NERO....Get a grip....On the Topic. I know this site is slow, but I didn't excpect slow stupid answers.

i'm not at all sure that Nero 5.5 ever supports the LiteOn 811.
it doesn't appear in the Supported Recorders liston Ahead's website.

so if you want to use Nero with your LiteOn LDW-811S you need to upgrade to Nero 6.
