PLEXTOR INTRODUCES 12 NEW VIBRANT COLORS FOR
EXTERNAL 8X DUAL-FORMAT DVD±R/RW BURNER

FREMONT, Calif. - October 13, 2003 - Offering a rainbow of colors that go beyond traditional computer color tones, Plextor® Corp., a leading developer and manufacturer of DVD and CD recording equipment, today announced that the new Spectrum DVD±R/RW drive is available in 12 vibrant colors. Now Plextor customers can tailor their Plextor burner to match their personal taste and lifestyle.

The external Spectrum PX-708UF DVD±R/RW drive is available in the following new colors: Ballistic Black, Baby Blue, Ultimate Blue, Granny Apple Green, Precious Pale Green, Lavish Lavender, Outrageous Orange, Pretty Pink, Radical Red, Sterling Silver, Wicked White, and Yummy Yellow. The new drive is available exclusively from Plextor distributor Tech Data and authorized Plextor resellers.

"In today's increasingly personalized marketplace, many of our customers want their computer gear, including the DVD/CD burner, to reflect their unique personality," said Howard Wing, vice president of sales and marketing for Plextor. "Some customers may choose a color that matches the interior decorations of their home or office. Another segment of our customer base will pick colors that go with previously purchased non-beige computer equipment, both PC and Macintosh. In the end, we believe everyone will be able to find a Spectrum drive color that they can call their own."

Plextor Spectrum PX-708UF DVD±R/RW Drive
The Spectrum PX-708UF is an ideal solution for recording DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and CD-R/RW discs. It gives users the ability to create, edit, and share customized DVDs and CDs using video, photos, audio, and data.

The PX-708UF supports 8X DVD+R and 4X DVD-R Writing; 4X DVD+RW and 2X DVD-RW Rewriting; and 12X max DVD-Reading The DVD/CD burner also boasts high-speed 40X CD-R Writing, 24X CD-RW Rewriting, and 40X max CD-Reading. The unit features a 2MB data buffer and burst data transfer rates of 480 Mbps (Hi-Speed USB 2.0) or 400 Mbps (IEEE 1394 FireWire®), allowing users to burn a 4.7GB DVD+R disc in approximately eight minutes.

The Spectrum PX-708UF drive comes with a bundle of premium digital media software from Roxio (NASDAQ:ROXI), including Roxio® Easy CD & DVD Creator

I'm trying to find out if you can can swap the colors or not. I think that would be pretty slick if it came with a bunch of different bezels.

Wow.
What a surprise.
They must be trying to appeal to female buyers with some of those colors.

I wouldn't mind a translucent neon glow-in-the-dark burner though :)

PC hardware should NOT come in "cute" colors. Mac hardware, yes. PC, no.

Uh oh, I feel a PC vs Mac discussion coming on here. :)
One of the hot deal sites posts started about a Hot Deal and ended up being a PC vs Mac argument/debate...
It can actually be quite interesting seeing people get so worked up about the system they prefer...

You can find colorful media products in Tokyo made by Taiyo Yuden and Mitsubishi. :D

Ok, time to make Firewire PC only then! :)

Mac vs. Pc...Linux Vs. Windows...both fun arguments...although not much of an argument on either front...

Well, time to go wipe the 'ol hard drive...gonna take off Mandrake and try SuSE Pro...
Soon to be proud user of Mandrake 10 (again!). SuSE 9 sucks!
