I/OMagic To Ship 8x DVD±RW Drive In Late October

Anyone else think this is based on the OptoRite DD0401? Hopefully it will let you write to 4x DVD+R media at 8x. Otherwise people are going to be SOL.

Curiously, I noticed that the exact specs of the drive,

ie. 8X -R and 4X-RW 4X+RW and whether or not they are present were left out of the "Forward looking" press release of the drive.
