NVE-3 Chapter Problem

Postby themenace on Tue Jan 25, 2005 11:18 pm

Nero Vision Express 3.0.1.27 problems with last 4 or 5 releases. Running WinXP - SP2.

(1). The auto chapter selection process runs and tells me I have x number of chapters. When I click generate I get the following message: "The instruction at 0x006adf64 referenced memory at 0x01531fc0. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.

(2). The preview window either does not work or I am doing something wrong.

I do not remember this happening in the version 2 series

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help. All I can get out of Nero tech support is the magic phrase delete and re-install .

Do you have another system to test this on?

This is more than likely unique to your system, as I am not able to duplicate this issue on any systems here, and this issue was never reported in previous versions of NVE3 either, nor have I seen this in previous versions from my many tests.

Did you provide a report from the Nero InfoTool to our Tech Support Staff so that they can see if there are any known issues with drivers or other issues on your system?

I reported this the first time it happened about 3 releases ago. The only reply I got was to delete and re-install. This is in fact the only suggestiion I have ever gotten from Nero concerning several different problems over the last year and a half. I have read several posts in different forums from persons having very similar problems. The same message but perhaps different instruction and memory locations. No one has ever come up with a fix. I guess I will have to go ahead and reinstall.
Does anyone know of a nice set of instructions on using the clean tool, how to delete the registry entries, and how to recover your plugins such as the power pack lame encoder.

You should first go into Nero StartSmart and click on the Nero icon in the Top left corner of Nero StartSmart.

This will take you to the Nero Product Center. CLick on the Serial Number Tab, and now you will see two Serial keys. One to unlock Nero 6 Ultra Edtion, and one to unlock the MP3Lame encoder. Write both of these down in a secure location, and keep for future reference.

Now use the below link to download and run our Nero Clean Tool. This will remove all Nero programs from your system, including Drivers and Registry entries.

When a bug is reported by a customer, our Tech Support staff will try and duplicate the issue, and if that is not possible, they will have our QA team try and duplicate the issue. If neither group is able to duplicate the problem, no bug entry is created. They would first come back to you and request you to try some steps to resolve the issue, and if you still have trouble, ask for more detailed information about your system and the steps you take to create the problem.

I've seen others report 'similar' issues, but though they are similar, they are not 'exactly' the same as your issues. In most cases it's not the Generating of Chapters that they complain about, but when encoding there are problems if they create chapters, but when they do not create chapters they have no trouble encoding. That is the most common issue we have seen. We have found some bugs in this area and already addressed them. This has resolved the issue for many, but not everyone.
