Sure, the program that came with the burner recognizes it, but B(itche)'s Recorder gold is, at least in my opinion, a P.O.S. compared to Nero...have any suggestions? or should I just try Roxio instead?
It sounds like your copy of Nero came bundled with another manufacturer's drive. Is that so? If that is the case, then your copy of Nero is limited to work with just the original drive.
If you are still interested in using Nero with your new Sony, try uninstalling your existing version of Nero and installing the free demo version of Nero from
www.nero.com. That ought to work. If it does, then you have to decide if you like Nero that much better than B's Recorder Gold to pay for the full retail version.
Nero does list the 195A1 as a supported drive:

I believe that the 195E1 is simply the OEM version of the 195A1, so you shouldn't have any problems.
