Nero 7 Reloaded (v7.7.5.1) Windows Messenger Error nevideohd

Last week I upgraded to Nero 7 Reloaded (version 7.7.5.1) from Nero 7 Premium. Since then I have an error window pops up every few minutes saying that Windows Messenger has encountered a problem (the type of message which you can send or not to Microsoft). The header of the message has this:

AppName: msmsgs.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.381 ModName: nevideohd.ax
ModVer: 4.6.15.0 Offset: 00008b89

I'm assuming that "nevideohd.ax" has come from this Nero upgrade. I had no previous problems with the earlier version of Nero 7 Premium.

The error message refers to Windows Messenger, not Windows Live Messenger. Since encountering the problem, I removed Windows Messenger component from my system using Control Panel, but it still occurred. Then I removed it totally using TuneUp Utilitiles / SystemControl / E-Mail & Chat.

That didn't work either, so I uninstalled and re-installed Nero 7 Reloaded, but still get the error.

Has anyone experienced this, and do you have a solution? The pop-up error message gets very annoying.

It seems a lot of people are having trouble with that Nero file.
One person on the Roxio Support Forums resolved the problem by unregistering the component with the following command:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeVideoHD.ax"

If you ever need to reregister it just remove the "/u" and issue the command again.

When I try to burn a movie using Nero 7 my computer shuts down? Can someone please tell me why my computer shuts down when I try to burn a movie using Nero 7.

If it shuts down after the burn, you need to uncheck that option.
