mtkflash and win xp home

Postby vorlon on Sun Dec 15, 2002 2:56 pm

Sorry to annoy y'all but I got to know something before flashing my drive with mtkflash.

I got Win XP home and it only emulates DOS.

Since mtkflash needs real dos, I should create a DOS boot floppy disk.

I read somewhere else, that I should delete the codepage stuff and edit autoexec.bat and so on.

Is this so??

Couldn't I just create a real WinXp Dos boot disk and use another floppy disk for mtkflash and firmware.bin??

Would using any Win 98 boot disk do any good??

Sorry, but I better know it exactly, cause there were so many cries for help while trying to flash with Win XP.

Ah yeah, and what's that all about turning off UDMA, setting the drive to slave (it's crx210e1) and removing all other CD/DVD drives??

Once again, sorry to annoy you, didn`t find the right faq section that could really help me!

Thx a million times :D

Check out the new utility on Dimitri's site as described here:

http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=8059

It may be just what you need, allowing you to flash without resorting to mtkflash. Even if you do decide to stick with mtkflash, go visit Dimitri's site. It has instructions for using mtkflash, as well as a download for a program that will create a boot disc configured to use mtkflash:

(as reached from his main page http://digitri.tk/ or any of the other links in his signature)

I just used create startup disk I believe it's called and added what I needed to it, worked fine here.
It creates a windows ME dos boot disk as far as I remember.
