Little media support on NEC ND1300a?

Postby sinetwo on Tue Jan 31, 2006 8:15 am

Hi,

I'm finding it difficult to burn anything else than good dvd-r media.

* Princo doesn't work (no I don't use it anyway, but my cheap friends have a few)

* Just tried burning some DVD+RW - went half way on one Inifini dvd+rw, then it failed. And on the other one, it won't even recognize properly, it's a TDK.

Am I using the wrong firmware or something? My drive used to support princo before, and it really does sound like a firmware problem... But can anyone recommend a good firmware that gives broad support for media on this device? #-o

Thanks!

It's a pretty old drive... maybe it's just dying?
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

cant imagine a drive dying, and whilst in the process of dying, it supports less and less formats? :lol:

It can happen easily... some media is much easier on the laser to burn then others.
