I just finished testing that drive. I really don't want to say much, but the writing speeds and media compatibility was average. However, writing quality with some lower quality discs was not very good.

I had this drive and it was complete junk. I had the Mad Dog one (re-badged Artec) and the drive would not write at 52x at all. I could only get to 48x and it was still a lot slower than my LTR-48125W, the quality was also a lot worse. Might I add that this was NOT a media problem. The drive was only 48x.

Do yourself a huge favor and either get the LTR-52246S, or, if you have the money, the Plextor Premium.

LTR-52246S at Newegg, just $45.50

Plextor Premium at Newegg, just $110

The Artec 52x features bad writing quality, slow speeds, and bad media compatibility. I recomend you do not get it. I returned my Artec 52x and I got the Premium.
