Postby Ian on Tue Nov 18, 2003 1:03 pm

Today we bring you a review of ASUS's new 4x DVD±RW drive, the DRW-0402P/D. Based on Pioneer's award winning DVD±RW, the DRW-0402P/D is capable of 4x DVD±R, 2.4x DVD+RW and 2x DVD-RW writing speeds as well as a maximum DVD read speed of 12x. ASUS's new drive also has features like 16x CD writing speeds, 32x CD read speeds and support for buffer underrun protection.

In this review we'll take a look at some of the features found on the DRW-0402P/D and see how it compares to some of the DVD±RW drives from the competition. Does the drive deliver the performance and quality ASUS is known for? You'll have to read the review to find out.

Pioneer must have made good money on the A06 drive given the OEM variant and the various manufacturers that have rebadged it as their own.

Yes, Pioneer has done really well in the OEM market. They probably sell more drives there than retail.

Well LiteON sure isn't getting the OEM orders this time, so someone has to fill them! I'm glad it's pioneer :D
