Help with Plextor 708A please!

Postby Nocturnal on Thu Oct 16, 2003 5:51 pm

I recently got this drive from Dell. I installed it, burnt a CD-R fine. When I tried to use the DVD+R feature with Imation DVD+R discs it'll burn for a few seconds (orange light flashing) then the status light will turn green and it won't go anywhere after that. The program(s) freeze up.

I've tried Nero (a bunch of diff versions) and Roxio (software that was included with the drive.

Please help!

try other media?

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

I'll be staying away from Imation brand DVD+R/RW. I'm gonna stick with Memorex brand for now and Verbatim if anyone ever sells these cheap.

I had the same thing happen to me when I used that brand! I changed brands and the problem went away. Never again!

Ok so even after a FRESH install of Windows XP I'm still getting the same error. Nero hangs after a few seconds. Same with EZCD. I'm beginning to think that either the DVD+R feature is defective or the media I have is just not compatible with this drive. The drive says it's stuck at 2.3x DVD+R burning speed.

The media is Imation DVD+R. On the label that the DVDs came in has no mention of what speed they are. This sucks as I'm getting frustrated as hell right about now.

You may have gotten a bad drive, might want to replace it with whoever you bought it from.
