LG GSA-4081B review (including media compatibility)

Postby Kennyshin on Sun Jan 04, 2004 10:41 pm

Mr. innundo disclosed it last weekend.

He explicitly wanted none of his materials to be used without consent. Too many dirty hands in South Korean web space. (I just provide web server/FTP account and some HDD space for his own site.)

He does work for a Lite-On IT distributor as I mentioned before but his test results are highly reliable.

Though there are not that many DVD media recordable at over 5.5MB/s (which is about 4x DVD speed), he couldn't find any media at all that does. If there's any LG GSA-4081B for sale anywhere outside Japan and South Korea, I can just say not yet, unless it costs the same as ND-1300A and LDW-4x1S.

I don't think the guys at Samsung and LG are that dumb but I know they always have serious organization problems. They don't work at all when they feel some redudance or lack of power in their organizations.

It looks like my GSA-4081B review is going to be on hold until some 8x DVD+R media is available.

No need to wait, Ian.

My 4081B has no trouble writing at 7.5 to 8x with genuine Maxell 4x media. Ritek 4x discs also work, as do Taiyo Yuden 4x discs (though too expensive for my likes).
